Why go tubular?Aside from the fact that changing a flat is a royal pain....tubulars are absolutely superior to clinchers. The rims are lighter. Instead of adding rim material to hold the tire on, a tubular rim only needs material to support the structure of the wheel, this save around 50g per rim. The tires are more supple and lighter. Like the rim, the tire does not need extra material to hold itself on the rim. The round shape of the tubular, compared to the half moon shape of a clincher, allows the casing to perform better at higher pressures.
